Color Palette Generator
Build a harmonious color palette from one base color.
Your palette appears below. Click any swatch to copy its hex.
How to use Color Palette Generator
Generate a balanced color palette from any base color and copy the hex codes instantly.
Open Color Palette Generator on toolpermarket, then enter the values you want to work with.
In the Base color field, pick the starting color with the swatch picker or type its hex. The hex box stays in sync, so you can fine-tune a value like #397AAC by hand.
In the Hex field, the six-digit hex value of the base color (with or without #). Typing a valid hex updates the color swatch live before you generate.
In the Palette type field, choose Analogous, Complementary, Triadic, or Monochromatic. Analogous keeps colors close on the wheel for calm designs; Triadic spreads them for high contrast.
Press Generate to compute the result. The output appears immediately below the form. Tweak any field and run it again to check a different scenario.
Read the result and use it as needed. If the number looks off, re-check your inputs and run it again — the math is deterministic, so the same entries always return the same answer.
Worked example. Set base to #397AAC and choose Analogous to get five blue tones that sit next to each other on the wheel — ready to copy for a UI theme.
Tips for accurate results.
Click any swatch to copy its hex straight to your clipboard — no right-click needed.
Monochromatic is the safest choice when you want contrast without clashing hues.
Save the palette as a note or a CSS variable block so the exact values survive between sessions.
When to use Color Palette Generator. Building a coherent UI theme from a single brand color. Picking background, border, and text shades that already harmonize. Quick color exploration before committing a design in Figma or code.
When you actually reach for this
- Reach for this when you need a set of coordinating colors from scratch and don’t want to eyeball harmony rules.
- Use it to seed a brand kit, presentation theme, or illustration before committing to final shades.
Where this tool stops being accurate
- Harmony math guarantees the colors relate, not that they fit your audience or industry conventions.
- Generated palettes ignore contrast, so a pretty pair can still fail WCAG when used as text on background.
Frequently asked questions
Do the palettes follow a real color model?
Yes. Every swatch is derived mathematically from the base hue using HSL rotation and lightness steps, so the relationships (analogous, triadic, and so on) match standard color theory rather than random picks.
Can I use the generated hex codes anywhere?
Absolutely. They are plain six-digit hex values you can paste into CSS, design tools, or any app that accepts hex colors. Nothing is locked to this site.
Does the tool keep my base color?
No. The color is converted on your device the moment you press Generate and is never uploaded, stored, or tracked. Reload the page and the picker returns to its default.
Analogous or complementary — which should I pick?
Analogous (neighbors on the wheel) feels calm and unified; complementary (opposites) creates tension and pops for calls-to-action. Pick analogous for backgrounds, complementary for the one element you want noticed.
Why does my generated palette look washed out?
The tool may have set low saturation for balance. Bump saturation on the accent color only and leave the neutrals muted — that keeps harmony while restoring energy.
