How to use Color Picker
Free color picker: tune any color and copy it as HEX, RGB or HSL instantly.
Open Color Picker on toolpermarket and enter your values in the fields below.
In the HEX box field, type a six-digit hex color like 397aac to jump straight to that color. Prefer lowercase hex; the field accepts the leading # optionally.
In the RGB sliders field, drag Red, Green and Blue from 0 to 255 to mix any color by light. Watch the live swatch update as you drag — no button needed between moves.
In the HSL sliders field, adjust Hue 0 to 360, Saturation 0 to 100 and Lightness 0 to 100 for intuitive tints. HSL is easiest when you already know the hue family you want.
Press Pick to compute the result. The output appears immediately below the form. You can change any input and run it again to compare results.
Read the result and use it as needed. If the number looks off, re-check your inputs and run it again — the math is deterministic, so the same entries always return the same answer.
Worked example. To recreate the brand lake-blue, type 397aac into the HEX box; the sliders snap to R57 G122 B172 and H203 S50 L45.
Tips for accurate results.
Use the live site preview to see your color on real buttons, tags and cards before copying it.
Keep saturation moderate if you want a calm, professional feel rather than a neon one.
Copy the format your destination expects — HEX for CSS, RGB for canvas, HSL for theming.
When to use Color Picker. Designers matching a brand color to a spec. Developers needing a quick CSS variable value. Anyone checking whether two colors are actually the same.
When you actually reach for this
- You need the exact color of a pixel in an image you loaded.
- You want to copy a hex or RGB value from a specific spot for CSS or design.
Where this tool stops being accurate
- It reads from the loaded image, not your screen or a live camera.
- Values are the rendered pixels, so a compressed image may differ slightly from the original source.
Frequently asked questions
Does the color picker save my history?
No. The picker keeps no history, accounts or logs. Your recent colors exist only on the current page and disappear when you close the tab, so nothing follows you around.
What is the difference between HEX and RGB here?
They describe the same color in two notations. HEX packs red, green and blue into one compact string like 397aac, while RGB lists the three channels separately as 57, 122, 172. The tool converts between them instantly so you can copy whichever your project needs.
Can I check contrast for accessibility?
This tool focuses on picking and converting colors. For meeting WCAG contrast rules, use the separate Contrast Checker on the same site, which compares a foreground and background pair and reports the ratio.
Can it pick a color from anywhere on my screen?
No. It samples the image you opened in the tool. For screen-wide picking you need an OS color picker.
